So, What Exactly Does Modern Candle Do?

Modern Candle is a contract manufacturer for brands and retailers. That means we do not have our own candle line or collection; we make candles for other companies and brands. In other words, we work directly with retailers, often hand in hand throughout the development process, creating lines for them to sell either in their stores or direct to consumers online.  

Our retailers come in all shapes and sizes, from mass market to high-end luxury stores and from very diverse industries. Sometimes, the retailers have their graphic designers and art department staff and require little help in the development process. Other times they collaborate closely with our team at Modern Candle to develop fragrances, design direction, graphics, and even marketing strategies.

Our brand partners also come in various categories regarding company size, market position (mass – luxury), and experience. We love working with start-ups looking for guidance in everything from initial conception to finished product. These candle industry “newbies” greatly benefit from working with Modern Candle as we have a team of seasoned professionals who have been in the candle industry for decades and have worked with and even owned some of the largest brands in the United States. We help guide and advise throughout the process, from fragrance briefs to sourcing unique vessels and packaging to deliver a high-quality product that will help them succeed in this very competitive and exciting industry.

Other more established brands might already have a successful candle collection but are looking to move from the complex and costly position of making the candles themselves to moving over to a contract manufacturer. Working with these companies is much different than with a start-up, as established companies usually have their vendors (for their vessels, fragrance, and packaging) and what they are looking for is a place to do the filling strictly. Sometimes they come from other contract manufacturers and need to make a switch for various reasons.
